About the 2009 ASHRAE Annual Meeting

For the first time since 1973, the ASHRAE Annual Meeting will be held in Louisville, at the Galt House Hotel, from Saturday, June 20 through Wednesday, June 24, 2009. As usual, some Society functions and the ASHRAE Learning Institute (ALI) short course program will start earlier. The Technical Program theme will focus on "Optimal Air Quality Management."

The Host Committee has been actively working on arrangements since the beginning of July. We have set the Welcome Party for Saturday evening on Millionaire's Row at Churchill Downs. Busses will be provided to transport everyone from the hotel to the track and back. Since June 20 is a race day, the Welcome Party format will be slightly different from normal because Churchill needs time to clear out the race crowd and set up the space for us. There will be a cocktail party in the Paddock area (or in the fifth floor area directly above Millionaire's Row in case of inclement weather), followed by a dinner and entertainment starting at 7:30 PM.

Arrangements for the General and Technical Tours are also well under way. The Members Night Out in the Galt House Tuesday evening will be highlighted by a program of mock racing hosted by Churchill Downs.
